Shopify Developer (Full Stack)
OVERVIEW
Codup is looking for a skilled Shopify Developer to join our delivery team. You will work across both sides of the Shopify platform: custom storefronts and themes, and embedded Shopify apps that come with their own backends, databases, and third-party integrations.
This is a hands-on build role. Our projects range from performance work on Shopify Plus storefronts to multi-store apps that run inside the Shopify admin and connect merchants to external systems. The role spans the full stack, so you should be equally comfortable writing Liquid on the storefront and designing a database schema for the app backend that sits behind it.
Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and the ability to own a piece of work end to end are what make people successful here.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
▪ Build and maintain Shopify storefronts and themes, with a focus on performance, responsiveness, and clean Liquid.
▪ Develop embedded Shopify apps that run inside the Shopify admin, including OAuth install flows, session token authentication, and admin interfaces.
▪ Build theme app extensions and ship them through Shopify CLI without disrupting the merchant's theme.
▪ Work with Shopify Admin, Storefront, and Cart APIs, along with webhooks and App Proxy.
▪ Model structured content and configuration using metaobjects and metafields.
▪ Design and maintain backend services and database schemas that support app functionality.
▪ Integrate with third-party systems and APIs such as ERPs, CRMs, 3PLs, and support platforms, with sensible handling of failures, retries, and timeouts.
▪ Handle API credentials and sensitive data securely, including encryption at rest and keeping secrets out of logs and user interfaces.
▪ Translate designs from the design team into working, accessible interfaces.
▪ Write unit and integration tests as part of normal delivery.
▪ Troubleshoot and debug across the stack, from storefront rendering through to backend integration failures.
▪ Take part in code review and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
